There are only two problems in my life. The political ones are insoluble and the economic ones are incomprehensible.

About This Quote

The world is full of problems, both big and small. When it comes to politics, unfortunately, there are only two problems: 1) How do we get rid of governments that don’t represent the will of the people? 2) How do we get our financial system back on track? The second problem is more complicated diplomatically, but it can be solved with a little creativity. The first problem, however, isn’t going to go away any time soon. As long as there are politicians who want to make a profit off the people by selling them out for a few favors here and there, or they think they can get something out of a system that is corrupt from top to bottom, solving this problem is going to be utterly impossible.

This is why I prefer to focus my energy on something that’s more easily solvable. I have no idea when or if we can have a society where no one has ever been taken advantage of in the way that we have been all too often in the past. But what I do know is that when we do find ourselves in a situation where no one ever gets taken advantage of again, I will have done my job as a citizen.

If there are people who don’t feel they have an equal voice in our society anymore because our politicians have sold themselves out for money and power (think Enron and such), then I will be happy knowing that I did my part to make sure that never happens again.
